Rules and regulations from

the German Hotel Industry (DEHOGA)

The contract on a room reservation is closed, when both parties (Guest and Hotelier) have agreed to all required conditions in any way or form.
When a hotel room is reserved, both parties are committed to that contract, no matter how long it last, until the agreed expiry date is reached.
If the Hotelier does not fulfil their part of the agreed contract (supplying the room on agreed date), they are, by law, committed to pay compensation to the party with who the contract was agreed.
If the Guest does not fulfil their part of the contract (taking room on agreed date), they are, by law, committed to pay the full price agreed by both parties in the contract, (less 20%), to the Hotelier.

If the Guest cannot fulfil their part of the contract (taking room on agreed date), the Hotelier MUST try and sell the room to a “third party” to prevent both the Guest and Hotelier from losing money.
If the Hotelier says they could not sell the room to a “third party” on agreed date, the guest must accept this in good faith and pay monies due, as stated in section 4.

Standard policy:

Cancellations are accepted till 18 o'clock the day prior to the planned check-in without penalty. Late cancellations result in a cancellation fee equivalent to 1 overnight stay.
In case of early departures, one overnight following the actual departure will be charged in any case.
Cancellations shall be accepted in written form only (e-mail, fax or postal mail) and are legally accepted after written confirmation only.
In case of no-shows without prior cancellation, the entire stay will be charged as booked.
Special cancellation conditions shall be agreed upon for group reservations (3 rooms or more).

Exceptions for special time frames:

Reservations during the following periods must be cancelled not later than 14 days before the planned arrival date to avoid fee of full stay incl. tax.
